Family is the foundation
Suddenly it hit me. While working, the realization dawned on me that the source of inspiration for everything I do in my work is my family.
Family is everything to me. My whole world. What drives me. What makes me live, my heart beat strongly, and my eyes tear up with excitement. When I think about family, many associations come to mind:
Security, love, warmth, emotion, acceptance, partnership, joy, belonging, boundless giving, loyalty, guilt, tradition, birthdays, celebrations, longing, happiness, togetherness, shared experiences, moments of joy, worry, strength, soul. All these meanings are now expressed in my work.
Among the products born out of family were the Mezuzah, which symbolizes home and belonging for me.
The SEDER, the Passover plate that takes into account the different preferences of each family in the holiday blessings, and allows them to be chosen and arranged accordingly.
And of course, the special KAN series, which was born from a conversation between my mother and me. A few years ago, my mother approached me with a candelabra with five branches in her hand, and told me with great excitement that it symbolizes our family. "According to tradition," she told me, "it is customary to light candles according to the number of people in the house." I immediately replied with a smile, "So, you've closed up shop?" But that conversation resonated with me. I started to think, what does family mean to me? What does it symbolize? And later I mainly understood that the definition changes from person to person, from family to family. Family forms, grows, is dynamic. And so the KAN candelabra series was born, which allows for the creation of clusters of branches, and adaptation as needed, and according to the needs of each family.
I wish for each and every one of us, that we know how to appreciate and cherish our family members, not only on Family Day, but throughout the year.
Happy Family Day!
